WHO YOU ARE MATTERS

My name is Charles Robert Arnold IV; I come from a long line of hard-working men who evolved into successful Americans. Initially, I was born in Bellevue, WA, a city 25 minutes east of Seattle. My parents grew up locally in the Pacific Northwest region and attended college at Washington State University. Following college, they found jobs and met each other. Four years after meeting each other, I was born in Overlake Hospital. Throughout my childhood, I remained in the local Bellevue area. I grew up playing sports and attended a small private catholic high school before declaring to University of Southern California. The only reason I am in the position I am today is because I pride myself on being the hardest worker in the room, and the only way to achieve where I want to go is by continuing my desired work ethic. Although, I am not sure where I am going at this moment in my life. I am confident that the place I will end up in is somewhere sustainable and will make me pleased with my life. I like to think of myself as very similar to my parents. We all value the importance of family, faith, and hard work. Along with those values are having fun and enjoying our blessed lives. We also have very similar personalities, sense of humor, and manners. Along with those similarities, I also have differences. My parents and I grew up very differently; my parents grew up in situations where their parents split apart. That alone can completely alter a childhood. I have developed my expectations of myself, but I also have many unknowns. I am happy internally with the position I am currently in my life. I also have many unknowns, such as when I will get married, my career, and other things that only the future holds. Growing up, I operated under my parents' expectations, and that ultimately was the best thing for me. As I have aged, I must live out my expectations and aspire to grow. An early coach I had in my life is someone I constantly stay in contact with and look up to as a leader. The many life experiences I have faced with him, good and bad, have connected me beyond the surface level with him. Specifically, one of the most challenging life experiences I've encountered, my coach was every step along the way with me. One wild animal I have always felt a connection to is a killer whale (orca). I think this way because killer whales have a good balance of being ferocious and playful, something I try to model my daily life after. That is being hard-working, enjoying life, and having excellent balance. In my childhood home, I had a large maple tree in the center of my backyard. I have distinct memories of the fall when all the leaves changed colors, and they would fall to the ground. Once the leaves fell to the ground, my family and I would make giant leaf piles and watch my dog leap into them.
