JOB DESCRIPTION BLOG POST

If someone were to approach me in the street and ask what I do for work, I would tell them I am a student aspiring to work in Real Estate Finance. People find interest in my dedication but whenever I say ‘real estate’ they figure I want to be a real estate agent. Although I do enjoy face to face interaction, I have gained commercial real estate experience in my previous job with 11 capital. My life once school is over will most likely consist of terribly long hours of work sitting at a desk crunching numbers. I also could see myself having a future in investment sales. I consider one of my strongest assets being communication. Leveraging my communication skills would excel me in the world of investment sales. Ultimately, I want to work as hard as I can to make as much money as possible and succeed.

As a CRE analyst, at 11Captial, I would be responsible for gathering financial and operational data about an organization, and providing assessments and analysis of the data. Commercial Analysts sit within the finance team of a company and assist in driving the positive financial direction of a company. In an investment sales position, you would support clients in buying, selling and investing.

There are three descriptions that every analyst and investment salesmen shares

- Critical thinker

- Hard working

-Communicator

Having these traits helps me excel amongst my peers. I’ll describe how these traits help me succeed.

Critical thinking

Every Analyst has critical thinking skills

-Data Analysis and interpretation

-Problem-solving

-Risk Assessment

When I worked at 11Capital, performing daily tasks using critical thinking was an essential skill to succeed in the commercial real estate industry. Analyzing complex financial models, understanding the market, and property-specific investment decisions. Critical thinking helps better understand the in-depth details and helped me make better decisions for the 11Capital company

Hard working

Hard work is a necessary skill because of the treacherous work schedules and assignments.

-Attention to detail

-Developing Market expertise

- Continuous improvement

At 11 capital the company prided itself on hard working individuals and expected nonetheless of me. Hard work, a foundational skill for a CRE analyst prides themselves on long days, extensive meetings, and in-depth research. The persistence and commitment I prided myself on during my time at 11 capital has provided me with outside opportunities. In such a fast-paced competitive industry, it is important to carry hard work with you at all times.

Communication

If you lack communication skills in the CRE industry you simply just won’t make it.

-Presenting complex data

-Collaborating with teams

-Negotiating Deals

When I was working at 11 capital they greatly expanded my communication skills. Forcing me to step outside my comfort zone to become the best version of myself was a common theme. Presenting knowledge, asking questions and not being afraid to fail were skills I practiced daily. To really push my skills, the company made me present a market feasibility study to investors with an in-person presentation.
